Communicator (ship, 1954)

Communicator was the laser ship of Laser 558, a sea transmitter in American hands. Built in 1954 by Abeking & amp; Rasmussen in Lemwerder / Bremen (West Germany) for the Stavanger Steamship Company (DSD) in Stavanger (Norway) as a freighter. It has IMO number 5351923.

The station has been broadcast from 1983 to 1985 and a short time in 1987. The original name of the ship was Gardline Seeker and had Lowestoft as its home. After the American 558 organization of the Las Vegas Seeker had purchased from a ship trader in England, the ship left to the United States, where the ship was converted into a port in New York.

After Laser stopped broadcasting, the ship had been in a Portuguese port for several years, and the ship was on the nomination to be demolished. Right now (1992), Holland FM obtained a mid-wave frequency. Because there was no setup for the frequency in the Trintel harbor, and as soon as possible to start broadcasting, the Communicator decided to purchase and set up as a broadcast location. Holland FM - Veronica

When it became known in 1994 that the Veronica Broadcasting Organization (FET) was leaving the public broadcasting service on 1 September 1995, Holland FM was bought by the FET. The station was temporarily renamed in "Hitradio Holland FM", and continued on 1 September 1995 under the name Hitradio Veronica. Due to the acquisition of Holland FM, Veronica not only had the opportunity to get Hitradio Veronica in the air, but also had an ether frequency immediately. The Communicator was officially owned by Veronica. New sea transmitter

After Veronica had lost its mid-wave frequency, and in the Trintel port a fixed transmission location was built, the use of the ship in that place was superfluous. After a few hardships, the ship finally attacked the ships, destroying the gateway to the ship and destroying large devastations on board. Due to these disturbances, the ship was also inclined to lie. Finally, the ship was sold to an English firm in 2003, who once again wanted to use the ship as a shipping vessel. Having recently been in use as a local radio station in Scottish St Margaret's Hope, the ship was sold for £ 1000 to a local shipowner who wanted to demolish the ship. The demolition would be completed by the end of 2007. DTI

The original shipping company, Gardline, which was the first owner of the Communicator, had another second-ever identical ship under the name Gardline Tracker. The British Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which was launched by the ship Dioptric Surveyor in 1985 with the spying of the radio carriers of Radio Caroline / Monique and Laser 558, had rented from Gardline's Gardline Tracker when the Dioptric Surveyor returned to the port was for maintenance.
