Jose "Joey" de Venecia III (Quezon City, August 10, 1963) is a Philippine businessman. He gained national fame in the Philippines, through his testimony in investigating the corruption scandal surrounding the ZTE broadband project. In the 2010 elections, De Venecia was unsuccessful in the senate elections. He finished in 15th place, which was insufficient for a seat in the Philippine Senate. Joey de Venecia is the youngest child and the only son of Jose de Venecia Jr., former chairman of the Philippine House of Representatives and Victoria Perez, a daughter of politician Eugenio Perez. He taught Ateneo de Manila and La Salle Greenhills, after which he continued his education at boarding schools in the United States. Subsequently, he studied Arts at Boston University and Ateneo de Manila. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the American University in Washington D.C. and his Masters Degree in the same study at Fordham University in New York.

After his study, he worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen LLP in Washington DC. Later he returned to the Philippines and became senior consultant at Ernst & amp; Young, then known as Arthur Andersen & amp; Co. The Venecia also owns or invests in various companies. One of these companies is Amsterdam Holdings Inc. In 2007, this company lost its tender for the Philippine government for a $ 329 million national broadband network in China, from the Chinese ZTE Corporation. The Venecia testified on September 10, 2007 during the inquiry of the Filipino Senate that he had heard how Benjamin Abalos, the then chairman of the electoral commission COMELEC, had heard money demand.
