He will guess at Moïra, the witch, and tells him about the curse of the black rose resting on Elaine. He is searching for this but is being hampered by Johan, who, on behalf of the king, performs a reconnaissance mission to see if the Dogs agree to the agreed agreements. However, they are both imprisoned and must be chained to each other for the completion of the fortified city from which the Hunts want to plunder the whole country. They can escape but Gawain has only an eye for his personal goals. If he eventually succeeds in shedding the chains, he gets into a deserted village, leaving his eyes open and he can drive away with Johan de Hunnen. Back in Camelot, he can achieve his ultimate dream and win Elaine for himself.
