John Michaux


John Michaux (Antwerp, March 2, 1876 - Brussels, 1956) was a Belgian painter.

Lifecycle

He was a student at the Art Academy of Antwerp and thereafter at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp (at Frans Hens).

He profiled himself as a painter of landscapes, marines and still lifes. His landscapes are often located on the Scheldt river or in the Antwerp Kempen. Its marines on the Flemish coast.

Before the First World War he had a stay in Nieuwpoort. A large part of the Nieuwpoort oeuvre was destroyed there during the First World War. During the war he lived in Great Britain, London, Bexhill and Newlyn.

During the interbellum he lived in Berchem / Antwerp, Ms. Courtmansstraat 28. He was a teacher at the Higher Colonial Institute in Antwerp.

Michaux became a member of the Antwerp artists' association If I could already be at her peak and the Societe Belle de Peintres de la Mer in which the main Belgian navy painters found each other. Exhibitions Museums Literature
