Computer performance

The performance of a computer (in English computer performance, computer performance) is the amount of work that a computer produces in relation to the time and resources available.

Depending on the context, a good performance is given by one or more of the following parameters:

Computer performance affects both hardware peripherals and software quality. The former provide pure computing power, the second is the task of completing a job with maximum efficiency.

In quantitative terms, the performance of a computer can be evaluated with various measurements, such as latency, bandwidth, response time, completion time, and so on. There are several methods of measurement in different contexts and are defined as benchmarks.

There are specific benchmarking for performance appraisal and other benchmarks, called synthetic benchmarks, which return a score derived from the sum of a variety of specific tests. The truthfulness of these tests is the source of discussions and debates, and is generally considered unreliable for the high variability of contexts where a computer is used.
