Heusdensch Kanaal

The Heusdensch Canal is a canal on the border of the Dutch provinces of North Brabant and Gelderland, roughly between Wijk and Aalburg and Heusden. The channel connects the Damaged Meuse with the Bergsche Maas and has a total length of approximately 2300 m.

On the side of the Bergsche Maas, there is a tailgate called The Kromme Nolkering, which is also the only bridge of the N831. History

Heusden was initially directly on the Damaged Meuse. In the middle of the Middle Ages the meander at Heusden was pierced, after which the original Maasarm slowly shed. A portion was kept open to ensure Heusden's accessibility. This section was soon known as the Heusdensch Kanaal. The current Heusdensch Canal was dug under the Maasmond Act of January 26, 1883. Partly the route of the previous Heusdensch Canal was followed. 51° 44′ 54″ NB, 5° 8′ 0″ OL
