Sarruma


Sarruma or Sharruma is a hardened god (later adopted in the Hittite Pantheon) whose name means "king of the mountains". He is the son of the god Teshub and the goddess Hebat. It is often depicted while riding a tiger and brandishing a two-axle ax; in other versions his sacred animal is panther. In the bas-relief found in Malatya and kept at the Anatolian Civilization Museum in Ankara (see below), dating from 1050 to 850 BC, is depicted behind his father.
