Diederik Enklaar


Diederik Theodorus Enklaar (Utrecht, July 16, 1894 - Utrecht, March 6, 1962) was a Dutch historian.

Prof. Dr. Diederik Enklaar studied Dutch literature and graduated in 1922 with Prof. dr. O.A. Oppermann up the dissertation The Dutch Government in the Stichting Utrecht on this side of the Iceberg during the reign of Bishop David of Burgundy 1456-1496. Initially, he chose for a career at the gym in Breda, until he succeeded Oppermann in 1946 as a professor in the history of the Middle Ages and Utrecht at the University of Utrecht. He received recognition from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences, of which he joined in 1948. Due to a debilitating disease, Prof. D.Th. Enklaar was forced to lay down his job in 1959.

In 1953 he appointed Johanna Maria van Winter as an employee. She would perform the position of professor between 1980 and 1989. Externe link
