A motorway is the English name for a motorway. The term is mainly used in the UK, Ireland, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. In the United States and Canada, the term is unusual, here one speaks of freeway or expressway. Unlike many other countries, no A (example A15) is used when driving a motorway, but an M is used (for example, M25).

The Motorway is a conflict-free road for fast motorized traffic (such as cars, engines, buses and trucks). Conflict-free means crossings are uneven floors and there is a middle-berth between the two directions. The name autostrade, derived from the Italian word autostrada, is mainly used in Flanders while the Germanic motorway is mainly used in the east and north of the Netherlands.

On the English Motorway you drive left, where everything is exactly the opposite of the motorway in the Netherlands. Speeds on the Motorway

Within the built-up area, 48 km / h (30 mph) can be driven. Outside the built-up area, 97 km / h (60 mph) can be driven to 113 km / h (70 mph), these speeds also apply to the English highways. On the motorway, 113 km / h (70 mph) can be driven.
