Catenoïde

A catenoid

A catenoid is a three-dimensional shape, which is constructed by rotating a chainline curve around the from {\displaystyle z} -ash. The plane does not count, the catenoid is the first minimum area that was discovered. The catenoid was discovered in 1744 by Leonhard Euler. This Swiss mathematician also proved that the catenoid is a minimum surface area. Early work on this subject was published in 1776 by Meusnier. There are only two revolutions, which are also minimal areas: the plane and the catenoid. Footnotes
