Mill of Risseeuw

The Mill of Risseeuw is a striking mill crankcase located on the Old Rijksweg in Breskens. It is almost entirely covered with ivy.

Originally, it involved a round stone mill, which was built in 1858 and was used as a grain mill.

The builder was Johannes Cornelis Cappon but in 1874 the Risseeuw family owned. In 1938 the mill was disconnected and an electric mill started. The mill ran in 1944, when Breskens was heavily bombed, also some damage, but she remained intact. Even after the war, it was even grounded.

The upper wheel was used to restore the mill never thought to Cadzand. This was lost by the 1974 fire.

The incomplete mill has the status of national monument. 51° 23′ 28″ NB, 3° 33′ 7″ OL
