Super high frequency

With Super High Frequency or SHF, frequencies in the radio spectrum are indicated between 3 and 30 GHz. The radio waves have a wavelength of 10 to 100 millimeters and are therefore also called centimeters. The SHF band is used especially for jet connections and satellite traffic. For broadcast satellites, for example, the uplink frequency is 14 GHz and the downlink is 12 GHz.

For transportation of these high frequencies, coaxial cable is sometimes used, but due to the high losses of coaxes also of coil pipes. As an antenna, depending on the application and frequency, a satellite or a grid antenna can be used.

Since 2009, there are also wireless local networks based on 802.11n (wifi) in this band, around 5 GHz. This tire is used to complement the very busy and interference-sensitive 2.4 GHz band, which is also used in the older 802.11b and 802.11g standards.
