Castle Heesbeen

Heesbeen Castle was a castle in Heesbeen and the seat of the Heesbeen gentlemen.

In Heesbeen there were two castles in succession. The first was of medieval origin and was built after 1260. In 1598 it was broken by the inhabitants of Heusden because it was too close to the city, which was objectionable because the Spanish troops under the leadership of Peter Ernst I of Mansfeld Heusden wanted to conquer.

Thereafter a smaller nobleman's house was built. This was surrounded by a double canal, but it disappeared around 1880. The canal was muted and later a merchant auction wiped out all the terrain features.

The situation of the castle around 1710 was signed by Hendrik Pola. Bezitsgeschiedenis Externe link
