Game Coeckstadion

The Ludo Coeck Stadium, originally called Berchem Stadium, is a football stadium in the Belgian city of Antwerp, located in the southeastern part of Berchem. It is the home stadium of the football club Berchem Sport. The stadium is located on Berchem Stadium Street, just outside the city ring. The current name refers to former player Ludo Coeck.

The architects who designed the design of the stadium were the Berchemnaren Frans Peeters and Egide Van der Paal. For budgetary reasons, they designed a sober stadium with concrete gradins, behind the goals, continuously in a curve. The Erepoort inspired by a Roman triumphal arch, with the Art Deco letters "Berchem Stadium", was the only ornamental part of the building. An athletics track was provided between the football field and the stands. Construction began in the second half of 1928; The last coverings were added in 1931. However, the stadium's inauguration took place on August 25, 1929, with a gala match (2-3) against the Dutch champion PSV Eindhoven.

At the inauguration the capacity was 20,000 places, of which about 5,000 seats. Anno 2012, the Ludo Coeck Stadium, with the closure of a stand and adjustments to the seating stand, only has 13,607 seats, of which approximately 2,687 seats and a few dozen business seats. 51° 11′ 16″ NB, 4° 26′ 25″ OL
