Johannes Goldberg

Johannes Goldberg, (Amsterdam, May 8, 1763 - Voorschoten, April 25, 1828) was a patriot and Amsterdam broker, who became the first Dutch agent of National Economics in 1798. In this capacity he made an orientation tour through the country in 1800, informing himself of the state of industry and agriculture. He found his findings in the "Journal of Reize of the Agent of the National Economy of the Bataafsche Republic", the oldest overview in this area.

After 1801 he was a diplomat. After French time he returned to King Willem I in the country administration. He ended his career as a member of the State Council. In 1819 the king raised him in the nobility with the predicate jonkheer.

Since the spring of 1827 he rented Allemansgeest (now Berbice) in Voorschoten, where he died in 1828.
