Nikolaj Sokolov (artist)


Nikolaj Aleksandrovich Sokolov (Moscow, 1903 - there, 1995) was a Russian visual artist. He was a member of the collective Koekryniksy, which made caricatures in which fascist leaders like Hitler were addressed. In addition, he worked as a painter of landscapes, portraits and still life.

With Porfiri Krylov and Michail Koeprijanov, he made political prints for newspapers and (satirical) magazines as Krokodil from around 1924. Especially during the Great War of the Great War, the group made posters and biting drawings, which were cast as cards behind the German front.

Sokolov studied Vchoetmas, where he met the other members of the group. He received different state awards in his country. In 1932 he participated in an exhibition in Leningrad and in the period 1946-1955 at exhibitions in Moscow. His work is located in, among others, Tretjakov Gallery in Moscow.
