Stock exchange

The option exhibition building was built between 1984 and 1987 at Rokin 65 in Amsterdam. The building, which stands on the corner of the Witte Lombardsteeg, is a design by architect Cees Dam. The stock exchange moved to Beursplein in 1995, after which Fortis entered the building. From December 2012, NRC Handelsblad's main editorial board is located in the building. Description

The property is built on an irregular rectangular site and consists of three facades. It has seven building layers and a glass tower. The lower part of the facade is covered with natural stone, the layers above with concrete facade elements with pyramidal points. The upper floors spring backwards and consist of aluminum pines.

For the housing of NRC Handelsblad, Architectural Bureau Jaap Dijkman has devised the housing concept. This means that complete transparency is made between building and city, newspaper and reader. The result is a proposal to replace the existing facade with a full glass facade, with a new main entrance to the Rokin. Also the round towers have been demolished on the corners of the building, the façade is retracted. On the ground floor, the NRC's restaurant is housed. Furthermore, Architectural Bureau Jaap Dijkman has designed the interior with a large central space in the heart of the building, which allows for viewing from editing to restaurant. Based on this housing concept, Cees Dam redesigned the exterior. Footnotes
