Automatic gear reflex

The automatic reflex (or stepping) reflection is, in the medical field, one of the neonatal reflections.

Thanks to this reflection, the child, supported by under the armpits and with the palms of the feet resting on a flat surface, mentions a kind of walk.

It comes after the first two days of life and disappears around the fourth month with the progress of baby's movement skills. It has a preparatory function for volunteering. As for the disappearance of the auto-reflection, two hypotheses have advanced: one is that the development of the cerebral cortex inhibits the reflex, and another is that the great weight that children buy especially in the upper part of the legs prevents movement.

It is commonly believed that this reflection comes from the "push" that the infant performs with lower limbs at the time of delivery. If so, such a reflection would not be present in Caesarean children who own it. This is because the reflection is likely to result from continuous movements that the infant performs in the uterus even several weeks before childbirth.
