Council of the Hundred

The Council of the Hundred, together with the Council of Savi, the Podestà and the Captain of the People, was part of the government of the city of Florence in the 13th century and represented in the government the economic aspects.

In practice, the Council of Centers dealt with the administration of public money. Dante Alighieri, who died in exile in Ravenna because of the contrasts between Guelphs and Ghibellines, two political factions, was also part of this council. In addition to Dante, Lorenzo the Magnificent, Lord of Florence in the fifteenth century, had the honor of being a member of this council's life.
