Jacques Rouvier


Jacques Rouvier (Marseille, 18 January 1947) is a French pianist and piano pedagogue. Lifecycle

Rouvier studied at the Paris Conservatory with Jean Hubeau, Vlado Perlemuter, and Pierre Sancan. He won two first prizes as an executive pianist at the "Viotti International Music Competition" in 1965 and as a chamber musician at the Music Competition in Barcelona in 1967. He also won the third prize of the "Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud International Competition" in Paris, where he ended with the Russian pianist Vladimir Viardo in 1971. In 1970 he founded a piano trio with Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Philippe Muller, with whom he still plays. Rouvier's recordings with the complete piano oeuvre of Maurice Ravel won the Grand Prix du Disque. In addition to his performing work, Rouvier is a teacher at the Paris Conservatory.
