Hugo II of France

Hugo (II) Magnus of France (1007-1025) was the oldest son of Robert II the Pious and Constance of Arles.

Following his father (Hugo Capet), Robert II designed his oldest son Hugo as a co-king, but died before his father.

Hugo Magnus was crowned King of France on 9/19 June 1017 and ruled next to his father. However, when he became older he rebuked. Hugo died in 1025, 18 years old at Compiègne while preparing for a rebellion against his father, possibly due to a fall of his horse.

Constance of Arles, queen of France by her marriage to Robert II, donated a considerable area to Verberie abbey at Compiegne's abbey for the sake of her son buried in the church of Saint-Corneille's abbey.
