Lord Ollie, Tom Poes, Wammes Waggel and Kaspar the dragon return to Bommelstein after the previous story. Lord Bommel suddenly finds himself to have a house dragon and Kaspar grazes on the lawns of the castle. Servant Joost announces the visit of a stranger called Elle Pijp and coming from Skull Island, the island where Tom Poes and Wammes Waggel found the egg. He wants to take Kaspar back and even pay for him in gold and money, but Wammes chases the unwanted visitor with firearms because he does not want Kaspar to be sold. But also Mr. Bommel is very pleased with Kaspar as protection against the wild men and Wammes Waggel finds it easy to take care of the dragon all day around the castle.

Elle Pijp is going to get help and with a group of monsters and wild men, he overtakes castle Bommelstein, already smashed by Tom Poes. They only know how to host Mr. Ollie. Wammes Waggel hides and Joost walks away. Tom Poes hits a ravage at Bommelstein and receives a report of the robbery via Wammes Waggel. Kaspar did not want to go with the wild men and blown them away, upon which the wild men had kidnapped Mr. Bommel. They locked the castle lord in a cave on their skull island to exchange him with Kaspar. Tom Poes goes back to Kaspar Mr Ollie. Kaspar crashes into the lake and disappears almost completely under water, causing Tom Poes to climb his head, on his way to the Skull Island.

On Skull Island, Kaspar runs into a pitfall. Tom Poes does not know how to save him and decide to go to research. He walks into the cave beneath the mountains and knows a chasing snake is too smart, but is caught by a lasso by the wild men. He is brought to their leader Elle Pijp who locks him up with Mr. Bommel. The latter complains about Tom Poes that he waited a long time for himself. The wild men decide to pull Kaspar out of the pit, but Kaspar frees himself and Tom Poes and Lord Ollie. Elle Pijp then presents all his treasures to Mr. Bommel as he goes away with the fire-spitting dragon. Lord Bommel refuses the treasures and is relieved with Tom Poes and Kaspar the dragon back to Bommelstein. Wammes Waggel is happy to return to everyone and has already finished a final meal. Tom Poes especially praises Kaspar the dragon, because he loves Mr. Ollie that they did not really act properly this time. Footnote
