The menhirs of Mount Caprione are the megaliths located on Mount Caprione, a promontory between Lerici and Ameglia, in the province of La Spezia. According to some scholars these installations are part of an archeo-astronomical site, of which the most interesting and spectacular aspect is undoubtedly the "butterfly of light". This is a phenomenon that occurs on the day of the summer solstice but can be seen even in the days immediately preceding and following. At that time, the sun at sunset passes through a sprawl created by a megalithic formation called "Quadrilithon", also called "Quadrilite di San Lorenzo", and goes on to project a light beam of a phallic menhir that takes shape of butterfly.
