Module (Architecture)

A factory built for modules, Prato

An architectural module is a measure of magnitude or a unit that is repeated several times in order to give balanced proportions to a building or building set. Wikitesto classic modification module

In classical art the module was the largest diameter of a column. In the case of enthusiasm then it was calculated in the central part and it was not calculated on the angular columns if they had thickening as optical correction.

Starting from this module, measurements of all other elements were taken with precise mathematical proportions.

The use of the module, though never fully set and although not more inspired by the column but with other units of measurement, was resumed in Renaissance times by architects such as Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti. Modular architecture modifies wikitesto

In modern architecture a module is a unit of a building that is repeated several times. Modular architecture has been widespread in the 20th century in popular and industrial buildings: think of terraced houses or industrial sheds in series.
