Taps

Taps, improperly identified in Italian with the silent exception, is a trumpet ring played at dusk, during military ceremonies and military funeral by the armed forces. The official military version is played by a single horn or trumpet, although other versions of the track may be reproduced in other contexts). It is also often performed in the meetings of Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Girl Guide.

The melody is a variation of a trumpet ring previously known as the "Scott Tattoo", which was used in the United States from 1835 until 1860 and was organized in its present form by Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield of the Union Army. It was officially recognized by the United States Army in 1874.
