Trifora

A gothic trifora with three-lobed arches

A trifora, also called a triple light, is a certain type of window with a specific shape. The window is divided into three openings separated by two columns or columns on which the two arches of both surrounding window openings rest. Sometimes the openings are framed, with additional space inserted between the arcs used for decoration.

The pillars of the trifora are a particle and can consist of a basement, a shaft and a chapel. In addition to two part-pockets, there can also be two montages.

Trifora has been widely used in Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Later, they were largely left to recuperate in the 19th century during eclecticism in the rediscovery of old styles. Also see
