Baumgartenschneid

Northern view from the Baumgartenschneid, 2006

The Baumgartenschneid is a mountain in the Bavarian Alps, with a peak of 1448 meters above sea level. The mountain is east of the Tegernsee, which is clearly visible from the top. In the eastern direction you can see the Wendelstein. Climbing

The mountain can be climbed via a clearly marked footpath from Tegernsee or Rottach-Egern, or on the other hand from Schliersee, via a less evident route. The lake Schliersee can not be seen on the mountain.

On the western edge of the Baumgartenschneid is the Galaun plateau at 1060 meters, where there is a restaurant. Something higher, at 1207 meters, is a chapel on a rock called Riederstein. The cliff from Tegernsee to the Gipfelkreuz is about 700 meters, which takes about two hours without a break. Also in winter, the mountain is relatively easy to climb, even without equipment. He is therefore a popular destination for recreational mountaineers or nordic walkers. Rods are allowed, but at your own risk.
