White Mountain Peak

White Mountain Peak is a 4344 m (14,252 foot) high mountain peak in the White Mountains in the eastern US state of California. The mountain is the highest peak in the White Mountains and the second highest mountain peak in California, after Mount Whitney (4421 m) and Mount Williamson (4386 m). For topographical prominence, it is the fourteenth summit in the United States.

The University of California has three research stations on the mountain, one at 3100 meters, one at 3800 meters and one on the top. The stations are used to study the effect of the highest on animal physiology. There is a path to the top of the mountain, which is mostly snow-free between June and November. The top is usually closed to visitors, but the researchers open the path a few days a year for hikers and mountain bikers. Also see
