The New England Wild Flower Society is an association that focuses on the protection of the plants that occur naturally in New England. The organization is engaged in promoting the conservation of New England's flora through education, research, horticulture and habitat protection. The association was founded in 1900 as the Society for the Protection of Native Plants by Amy Folsom and a group of women from Boston (Massachusetts). About 5600 households and organizations are members of the association.

The association features a botanical garden: Garden in the Woods. This garden in Framingham (Massachusetts) was transferred to the New England Wild Flower Society by founder Will C. Curtis in 1965. The garden serves as the headquarters of the organization. The visitor center and the garden shop are located.

The association works with almost 1500 volunteers. The organization has several farms that offer over seven hundred native plant species and cultivars. The association manages ten natural areas, nine of which are open to the public. The association organizes several activities for the public, including courses, workshops and field tours by New England.

The association is engaged in various activities aimed at the conservation of New England's flora. The organization participates in the Seeds of Success (SOS) project, for which the organization collected seeds from the northeastern United States. Several nature conservation programs have been set up, including Plant Conservation Volunteers (PCV), the New England Plant Conservation Program (NEPCoP) and Invasive Plant Atlas of New England (IPANE). NEPCoP is a program aimed at protecting the flora of New England, where several organizations have joined, including the National Park Service. This program focuses on field activities such as plant inventories, habitat management, reintroduction of species and ex situ activities such as seed storage in seed banks, research and cultivation of endangered species. PCV is a program aimed at training amateur botanists on fieldwork. The IPANE focuses on mapping the invasive species found in New England.

The New England Wild Flower Society is responsible for multiple publications, including books, magazines, articles, newsletters and online publications. The organization is affiliated with the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries, an international organization of individuals, organizations and institutes engaged in the development, maintenance and use of botanical literature and literature on gardens.

The New England Wild Flower Society is affiliated with the Center for Plant Conservation (CPC), a network of botanical institutes dedicated to the protection of the original Florida flora. For the CPC, the association is engaged in 23 rare plant species. The association is also affiliated with the Plant Conservation Alliance (PCA), a partnership that focuses on the protection of plants occurring naturally in the United States. The organization is affiliated with the American Public Gardens Association, a network of publicly accessible gardens in North America. In addition, the association is affiliated with Botanic Gardens Conservation International, a nonprofit organization that wants to bring botanical gardens together in a worldwide collaborative network to maintain the biodiversity of plants.
