Sint-Christoffelkerk (Bruges)

St. Christopher Church. Position in the Grand Place.

The St. Christopher Church was a church in the center of Bruges. The church was demolished in 1786. She stood between the Grote Markt, the Egg Market and the Geernaartstraat. Chapel

Against the church was the Saint John's Chapel built. Both were demolished in 1786 and replaced by a neoclassicist block of houses. This is still clearly visible on the north side of the Grote Markt because of the interruption of the house ridge through the Geernaartstraat.

Le Panier d'Or (top photo) is the third dot of the street. This was the tile shop's craft house.

It is remarkable that from 1745 on the side of the Grand Place the grain market was decorated. For that reason fish were sold at that place. The fish went to the fish market and the grain came from the grand market. Also see 51° 12′ 33″ NB, 3° 13′ 23″ OL
