Maltace

Maltace was Samaritan, and as such badly considered by the Jews. Nevertheless, around 27 AD Herod the Great decided to marry her, perhaps in order to strengthen her ties with Samaritan subjects; considered Herod's care in choosing wives, Malta was probably a noble family and had quality qualities.

Maltace gave Herod three children: Archelao, born around 23 BC, Antipa, born in 21 aC about, and Olympics, born around 17 aC; the two males were bred in Rome at the court of Augusto.

Maltace and his children managed to keep away from the intrigues of the Eroded court, who saw the deaths of many Herod's relatives; For this reason, at the death of Herod in 4 BC, the two sons of Maltace were among the heirs of Herod: Archelaus received Judea and Samaria, Antipa Galilea and Perea. Archelao, Antipa and Maltace traveled to Rome, Augusto, to confirm the charges, but before that, Maltace died for a disease. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
