North Carolina Zoological Park

The North Carolina Zoological Park is the official zoo of the state of North Carolina.

The Park is located near Asheboro at about 110 kilometers west of the capital Raleigh and almost equally northeast of Charlotte. The location, far from the main population concentrations, has both positive-more space and negative -minder visitors.

The zoo was opened in 1976 and consists of two continents. The oldest part is Africa, where one has mapped an Afrikaans village. There are lions, African wild dogs, white rhinos, and a large area with antelopes, zebras and ostriches. There is a birdhouse with African rainforest with free flying birds.

The newer part of the zoo is called North America and focuses on animals of their own continent. Much has been done to show animals of the coast both above, on and underwater to the visitor. This applies to the polar bears, the Californian sea lions, the otters, but also to the seabeds and puffins. The zoo is closely involved in the reintroduction program for the Red Wolf, a native species that has only been found in captivity since 1970. The American desert also encounters a house with many cacti, birds and reptiles in free state. Externe link 35 ° 37 '46 "NB, 79 ° 45' 52" WL
