Zbigniew Wassermann

Zbigniew Franciszek Wassermann (Krakow, September 17, 1949 - Smolensk, April 10, 2010) was a Polish lawyer and politician.

Wassermann's political career began relatively late. From his home he was a lawyer: between 1972, the year in which he completed his law study at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, and in 2001 he was almost always employed in the judicial system as attorney. In 2000, he was appointed by the then Minister of Justice Lech Kaczyński for the Attorney General's role, and although he was not officially appointed by Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek, he continued to perform this on an interim basis.

On September 23, 2001, Wassermann in the Sejm was chosen on the list of the Kaczyński's Law and Justice party. He was chairman of the Commission for Intelligence and Vice President of the Commission for Justice and Human Rights. On September 25, 2005, he was again elected to the Sejm and on 31 October of that year he became minister of intelligence services in the Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz government. He remained in office until 16 November 2007 in the government of Jarosław Kaczyński. At the 2007 elections he was chosen for the third time in the Sejm.

On April 10, 2010, Wassermann, as well as President Lech Kaczyński and many other Polish prominent people, came to life at Smolensk Airport. Originally, it was planned that not Wassermann, but PiS leader and former Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński would fly by plane. Just before leaving, the twin brothers decided that one of them could stay better with their sick mother, and Wassermann was asked at the last moment to take his place. grades
