Light train

The definition of light train (identified by AT on the rail time) was attributed, from the 1930s, to a train that used to drive passengers using one or more self-propelled vehicles.

Light trains generally did the same services as accelerated trains, with all stops on the run, but with much reduced travel in time, and this was precisely because of the greater acceleration due to the lightness of the rolling stock, from which the train category name came up.
