After Allanon asks Shea and Flick Ohmsford to take a trip to Anar, the two young men are asking for help from Menion Leah, Shea's great friend, as he is an expert acquaintance of the lands around Leah and knows the way to get to Culhaven. Carefree and rebellious, leads them through the Clete Plains and the Black Querce. Once at the Swamp of the Fog, they lose sight and find themselves after several days at Culhaven. Thanks to this adventure, "puts her head in place," and falls in love with a beautiful girl, Shirl Ravenlock, descendant of the old Kings of Kern and Callahorn before the Buckhannah.

It was Menion Leah who first challenged Leah's sword that would become legendary and even real talisman Shannara in The Song of Shannara.
