Dr. Lisa Cuddy is a character from the House MD series, played by Lisa Edelstein. She leads the fictional hospital Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. She specializes in endocrinology. biography
Cuddy was born in a Jewish family. Since she wanted to become a doctor in her youth, she went to study at the University of Michigan to study medicine. During this study she met Dr. Gregory House for the first time. At the age of 25, she completed her studies as the second best student in her class. Subsequently, at the age of 32, she became the first female and second most recent dean in medicine.
When Dr. House years later had an infarct on his right leg, he was treated by Cuddy. House preferred a procedure in which he would have a lot of post-operative pain but could continue to use his leg. While being artificially in a coma due to the pain on his leg, his former girlfriend, Stacy Warner, gave permission to Cuddy to perform another procedure, solely removing the affected muscle from the leg of the House. As a result, House has chronic pain on his right leg and can no longer use part of that leg.
As a head of Princeton-Plainsboro, Cuddy is regularly bumped by House in a tricky parquet. For example, she often has to convince him to help people in the free outpatient clinic, something he finds useless considering the small problems that many people come across. Also, in the DNR episode, it is clear that Cuddy has to put thousands of dollars a year, in case the hospital is accused of the blunt and sometimes rigorous behavior of House. When, due to his detective use, House is charged with detective Michael Tritter, Cuddy falsifies documents from the hospital to plead him.
During the series it becomes clear that Cuddy has made several attempts to become pregnant. Once upon a time this has been a miscarriage. She receives the necessary injections from the House to undergo ivf fertilization, and House keeps her secret of using that treatment. In the episode Joy to the World, Cuddy adopts a girl she calls Rachel.
