The Dutch Biotechnological Association (abbreviation: NBV) is the Dutch professional association of professionals working in biotechnology. The NBV addresses the interests of biotechnologists in the Netherlands. In practice, this mainly means that the association facilitates the exchange of knowledge and facilitates networks between biotechnologists of academic and industrial origin. The NBV focuses on biotechnological applications, including industrial processes to replace petrochemical processes, environmental management such as water and soil purification, agriculture and horticulture, nutrition and medical applications.
The association is involved in the issue of the science magazine C2W Life Sciences, which members receive ten times a year. In addition, the NBV organizes the Dutch Biotechnology Congress every year and there are certain working groups that organize seminars and workshops.
Working groupsThe NBV has eight working groups that organize activities in different fields of biotechnology. The aim is to organize two activities per year per workgroup. The NBV has the following working groups: C2W Life Sciences
C2W Life Sciences is a science magazine that appears ten times a year. It gives news and background information on various topics in life sciences including biotechnology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, system biology and biochemistry, but also about the economy and society. The NBV organizes a conference (NBC) or the working group day. This includes topics in biomedical, industrial, agro / nutrition and environmental biotechnology. International and national keynote speakers tell about the latest developments in biotechnology. Furthermore, during the NBC, the Silver Tandor will be awarded prizes for innovation and education in biotechnology.
