Favoni

The Favoni (Greek: Phauonai, Latin: Favonae) were one of the Germanic German peoples cited by Ptolemy in his Geography which, according to historians, lived in Scandinavia. There is no trace of them in any other classical source. According to Ptolemy, the Favoni lived in East Scandia along with the Firesi, while the Chedi were in the west, the Finni in the northern part, the Gutae (or Gautae) and the Daucioni in the southern region and the Levons in the central region.

In 1930 Thomas D. Kendrick proposed advanced a hypothesis, imagining that the Favoni were not in Sweden but on Finnish coasts. This hypothesis is based on the fact that the Levons mentioned by Ptolemy inhabited the present-day Sweden, and that therefore staying east of them meant to stay in Finland.
