Marrus orthocanna is a hydropop of the Agalmatidae family. The polyp is from the genus Marrus. The range of polyps extends from the North Sea, northwest of the Pacific Ocean, the Bering Sea, the Ochotsk Sea, the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Normally, the polyp is at a depth of 200 to 800 meters, but some have also been observed at a depth of 2000 meters. There the water temperature is about 4 degrees and does not penetrate any sunlight.
Marrus orthocanna was first described in 1942 by Paul Lassenius Kramp.
