The Nuctemeron is a book attributed to Tyana neoplatonist Apollonius.
The authenticity of the book is questioned, as it only appears for centuries later. The title is usually translated in Dutch as The day of the night or rather symbolic as the light in darkness. The book consists of 12 symbolic hours, each ruled by 7 genii.
In esoteric circles, this work is interpreted as a method of spiritual growth, with 12 hours standing for 12 steps in this growth.
