Otilio Montaño

Otilio Montaño

Otilio Eduardo Montaño Sánchez (Ayala, December 13, 1877 - Tlaltizapán, May 10, 1917) was a Mexican revolutionary and teacher.

Montaño was from the state of Morelos. He became a schoolmaster and read works of anarchist authors, which he introduced to the revolutionary Emiliano Zapata. In 1911, Montaño joined the Zapata South Liberation Army (ELS), and in vain attempted to prevent a break between Zapata and the new liberal president Francisco I. Madero. Montaño was one of the builders of Ayala's plan.

In 1914, Montaño was appointed by Zapata to the chairman of the Zapatist delegation at the Aguascalientes Convention, but Montaño was sentenced to sickness. Well, he served for some time as a convention minister for education under President Francisco Lagos Chazaro.

In 1917, Montaño was fused by the Zapatists because he would have taken part in a rebellion against Zapata.
