Yeshe Gyatso (1686 -?) was an intended sixth dalai lama. He was posthumously moved by the Lhabzang Khan around 1706, when the real sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, was in captivity during his trip to Beijing.
Lhabzang had named Yeshe Gyatso from political motives and, according to some sources, Yeshe was the son of Lhabzang. Lhabzang had proclaimed to the Tibetan population that Tsangyang Gyatso had been a mistakenly named Dalai Lama. Chinese Qing Emperor Kangxi acknowledged Yeshe initially and months to recognize and obey the Tibetan people to him and Lhabzang Khan.
Tibetans in East Tibet, however, announced that they had found the incarnation of Tsangyang Gyatso near Litang in Kham Province. A violent uprising broke out in Lhasa after which this child, Kälsang Gyatso, was recognized as the seventh dalai lama. This recognition was finally confirmed by Emperor Kangxi in 1710.
