The Bangka Strait (Indonesian: Selat Bangka) is a stretch that separates the island of Sumatra from the island of Bangka, in the province of Bangka-Belitung, Indonesia. The narrow one has a length of about 180 km and a width of 11 to 27 km. This stretch of sea borders the Indonesian provinces of South Sumatra and Bangka-Belitung. The narrow one, like the Gaspar Strait and the Karimata Strait, connects the Java Sea with the South China Sea.
The main city on the strait of Bangka is Muntok, on the southwestern end of the island of Bangka. The largest river in Sumatra, the Musi, flows into this narrow.
