Ecgberht (... - 872/873) reigned on Northumbria in the middle of the ninth century.
Little is known about him. It appears for the first time in the sources after the deaths of Northumbrian sovereigns Ælla and Osbeorht in battle against the Vikings of the Great Danish Army in York on March 21, 867. According to Simeon of Durham was placed on the throne by the same Vikings, reigning for six years on the Northumbrian who lived beyond the Thames.
