In the north and south, the canal is bordered by the parish Hamilton (not to be confused with the same town and capital): in the south, the excavation village Flatts Village, in the north the largest part of the rest of the parish, with the coast including the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ). Today, larger ships can no longer use Flatt's Inlet due to excessive sand deposition, but earlier this channel from Flatts Village made a rather important port. The Flatt's Bridge connects Flatts Village with the rest of Hamilton.
