Kempendjaj is a river from Siberian East Russia (Autonomous Republic of Jacuzia), Viljuj's right bank.
It is born and flows in the northwestern section of the Lena hills, keeping westward on the whole course; flows into the middle course of Viljuj at the village of Suntar.
The Kempendjaj crosses a rather remote region, given the climatic conditions: the largest city center touched by the river is the village of the same name in the middle course.
