A Patient Reporting Point is a place, usually a website, where patients can report positive and negative experiences. The aim is to learn from the experiences of patients with, for example, caregivers, medicines or health insurance. A patient report can focus on all aspects of care or more specifically on a subject. History
The first digital patient report in the Netherlands was the Meldpunt Medicine, founded in 2004 by the Institute for Responsible Medicine Use (IVM). This happened in collaboration with various patient and consumer organizations. At the reporting point, all the experiences of drug users are continuously collected. It may include experiences with the operation, side effects, practical issues such as packaging or insurance issues. Later, the patient report of the National Update Center Lareb and the Consumer and Care Center of the Netherlands Patients and Consumers Federation (NPCF) was reported. Results
The results of the Medicine Notice Center have been investigated by the Institute for Responsible Medicine Use and the Utrecht Pharmacy Panel Education and Research (UPPER). Upper, among other things, examined the experiences with antidepressants and drug packaging. The Meldpunt Medicine has also approached manufacturers to improve their packaging. Patient and consumer organizations used the notifications to pick up signals and inform members. In 2008, the NPCF conducted a survey of notifications at the Consumer and Care Center on Care Charges and repeats this survey in 2010. This can be compared to improvement.
