René van der Kuil (Schiedam, June 3, 1956) is a former Dutch open-air swimmer who once participated in the Olympic Games on his own country: Montréal 1976.
At that tournament, Van der Kuil stranded on his individual numbers, the 200 and 400 meter free stroke, in both cases in the morning series: he finished 23rd on 200 free (1.55.59) and 21st in 400 free (4.03.14). On the other hand, with the Estafette team on the 4x200 meter free stroke, the SZC swimmer continued until the final, in which the redemption team - further consisting of Henk Elzerman (final swimmer), Andre in the Field (third swimmer) and starter swimmer Karim Ressang - eventually seized in sixth place with a time of 7.42.56.
It was for the first time in the Olympic history that the Netherlands reached the final of the 'classic estafette', although it was a good luck to see because the team in the series was ninth and thus eliminated, but by The disqualification of host country Canada could still take part in the final.
