The Romanesque Saint Eligius Church of Ettelgem, the municipality of the Belgian city of Oudenburg, is one of the most striking monuments in the area.
The old Saint Eligius church is built in Romanesque style. The people speak of the Romans church of Ettelgem. Since 1911, she has no longer served as a place of prayer. This function was taken over by the parish church in the Dorpsstraat, which is also called the St. Eligius church.
The Romanesque church is a ruin today, but the contours of the original church are still clearly recognizable. There is the triangular basil shape with chorus and arcades of the middle leg. These tribes from the 12th and 14th centuries. The tower dates back to the 14th century. And finally, the sacristy was built in the 17th century. Due to the fact that parts have been added in several centuries, you will notice the different influences and styles.
