Scipione Stella (1558 - Naples, 1622) was an Italian composer. It should not be confused with another member of the circle of Carlo Gesualdo, Scipione Dentice. Biography modifies wikitesto
Stella studied at the Church of the Annunziata in Naples, where she was an organist in the period 1583-1590 and then went to Gesualdo's service. At the death of the latter he assumed the name of Father Pietro Paolo as a member of the Teatini fathers at the Basilica of St. Paul Major.
Very few of his works for tile-based instruments have come to us, and he works on him attributes (instrumental pieces, mottos and spiritual madrigals) are often confused with those of Scipione Dentice. The Stella's madrigal personal collection has been lost. Operemodifica wikitesto Notemodify wikitesto
